अध्येता एवं लेखक: इतिहास, संस्कृति, पुरातत्त्व, पर्यटन तथा बौद्ध अध्ययन
विभिन्न ठाउँमा पुग्नु, त्यहाँका बारेमा जानकारी लिनु र त्यसमाथि चिन्तन मनन गरेर ज्ञान हासिल गर्नु तथा लेख्नु आफ्नो काम नै हो । अध्ययनअनुसन्धान तथा लेखनका लागि विभिन्न ठाउँको भ्रमण प्रायः अनिवार्य नै छ। यो काम मलाइ असाध्यै मन पर्छ पनि । यही भएर यात्रा तथा पर्यटन बरोबर गरिरहेको हुन्छु । भ्रमण मेरो व्यक्तिगत शोख पनि भएका कारण यी कुराहरू एकआपसमा परिपूरक भइरहेका छन् । यस क्रममा मैलै विभिन्न ठाउँको यात्रा पटक पटक गरेको छु र त्यसलाइ आफ्नो अध्ययनअनुसन्धान तथा लेखनमा पर्याप्त मात्रामा उपयोग गरेको छु ।
पर्यटनलाई म मनोरञ्जनका रूपमा सीमित दृष्टिकोणले मात्रै हेर्दिनँ । यसरी नै पर्यटन क्षेत्रलाइ म आर्थिक उपार्जन गर्ने उद्योगको रूपमा मात्रै पनि हेर्दिन । आर्थिक विकासमा यसको महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका रहेको र विकासका लागि यसको विकास गर्नु पर्ने कुरा सही हो तर यसले थप अन्य अर्थ पनि बोक्छ जुन महत्वपूर्ण पाटो हो । पर्यटन ज्ञान विज्ञानको एउटा उर्वर क्षेत्र पनि हो । एेतिहासिक, सांस्कृतिक, पुरातात्विक, सामाजिक तथा प्राकृतिक अनेक सम्पदाको आकर्षण बिना पर्यटन क्षेत्र अगाडि बढ्न सक्दैन । यसले समाज तथा देशको पहिचानको प्रचार प्रसारमा पनि मनग्य योगदान दिइरहेको हुन्छ । पर्यटन उद्योगको अभावमा पनि यी क्षेत्रको संरक्षण तथा सम्वर्धनमा राज्य तथा अन्य क्षेत्रले ध्यान पुर्याउनु पदर्छ । पर्यटन क्षेत्रका लागि यी सम्पदाहरूले जसरी महत्वपूर्ण भू्मिका निर्वाह गरिरहेको छ, त्यही रूपमा यी पक्षहरूका लागि पर्यटन उद्योगले आर्थिक भार बहन गर्नुमा अन्यथा लिनु हुँदैन ।
म व्यक्तिगत तथा सामुहिक रूपमा यात्रा गरिरहने तथा पर्यटनमा रमाउने मान्छे त हो नै, साथसाथै नयाँ पर्यटकीय क्षेत्रको खोजी गर्ने तथा त्यसको विकासका लागि अध्ययन अनुसन्धान पनि गर्दछु । यस क्रममा ती क्षेत्रहरूको लेखन पनि गर्दछु । पर्यटकीय गन्तव्य र यस उद्योगका सम्बन्धमा मात्रै होइन, म आफ्नो यात्राका सम्बन्धमा नियात्रा लेख्ने नियात्रा लेखक पनि हुँ । अहिलेसम्म १०० भन्दा बढी नियात्राहरू विभिन्न पत्रपत्रिकाहरूमा प्रकाशित भइसकेका छन् । म नियात्रा लेखनको कार्यशाला पनि चलाउँछु । नेपालभाषा वाङ्मयमा नियात्रा लेखन विधामा योगदान पुर्याएबापत धर्मादित्य धर्माचार्य पुरस्कार प्राप्त गरिसकेको छु ।
मैले नेपालका ५० भन्दा बढी जिल्लाहरू हिडेरै घुमेको छु । जहाँ पनि गएको छु, प्रायःको अभिलेखन गरेको छु । यस क्रममा ठुला साना गरी थुप्रै लेखहरू लेखेर प्रकाशित गरेको छु वा अन्य लेख तथा पुस्तकहरूमा पनि मेरा ती भ्रमणहरूको प्रभाव परेको छ । अबका दिनमा पहिले पुगिसकेका र नयाँ ठाउँहरूमा पनि व्यापक रूपमा भ्रमणा गर्ने योजना बनाएको छु। यसरी भ्रमणा गर्दा मेरो ध्यान प्राकृतिक सौन्दर्यमा मात्रै नभएर त्यहाँको सामाजिक, सांस्कृतिक, एेतिहासिक पक्षमा पनि ध्यान दिएको हुन्छु । जे छ त्यसलाइ हेर्ने मात्रै नभएर आफ्नो विषयविज्ञताअनुसार अध्ययन पनि गर्ने भएका कारण कतिपय कुराको खोजी तथा डिस्कभरी पनि भइरहेको हुन्छ । र, ती जम्मै कुरालाइ म लेखनमार्फत सार्वजनिकरण गरिरहेको हुन्छु ।
Visiting various places, acquiring knowledge about them, contemplating their significance, and writing about what I learn—this is not just my profession, but a deeply fulfilling part of my life. For research and writing, traveling to different locations is often essential, and I truly enjoy this process. That is why I regularly engage in travel and exploration. Since traveling is also a personal passion of mine, my work and interests naturally complement each other.
I do not view tourism merely as a source of entertainment, nor do I limit it to a means of economic gain. While it is true that tourism plays a vital role in economic development and should be promoted accordingly, it carries deeper significance as well. Tourism is a fertile ground for knowledge and understanding. Without the allure of historical, cultural, archaeological, social, and natural heritage, the tourism sector cannot thrive. It also plays an important role in promoting the identity and visibility of a society and the nation. Even in the absence of a thriving tourism industry, the state and other sectors must focus on the protection and promotion of these valuable heritages. Just as heritage contributes to tourism, the tourism industry should, in turn, support the preservation of these treasures—it is a mutual responsibility.
As someone who enjoys traveling both personally and in groups, I also actively search for new tourist destinations and conduct research for their development. In this process, I document and write about these places. My writings go beyond tourism and destinations—I also write personal travel essays known as nīyātra (travelogues). To date, over a hundred of my travel essays have been published in various newspapers and magazines. I also conduct travel writing workshops. For my contributions to travel literature in Nepal Bhasa, I have been honored with the Dharmaditya Dharmacharya Award.
I have traveled on foot through more than 50 districts of Nepal. Wherever I have gone, I have documented my experiences. Along the way, I have published many articles and my travels have influenced other writings and books as well. In the days ahead, I plan to revisit some previously explored places and also discover new destinations. During these travels, my focus is not limited to natural beauty—I also study the social, cultural, and historical aspects of each place. I don’t just observe; I engage in scholarly study based on my areas of expertise. This often leads to new findings and discoveries, which I then share with the public through my writing.
गौतम बुद्ध अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विमानस्थल सञ्चालनमा आएपछि लुम्बिनीको भ्रमणमा आउने पर्यटकको संख्या ह्वात्तै बढ्ने नेपाली बुझाइले फेल खाएको छ। यो विमानस्थलको प्रयोजन लुम्बिनी आउने धार्मिक पर्यटकसँग मात्र सीमित त होइन तर यसको प्रमुख लक्ष्य भने धार्मिक पर्यटक नै रहेको पाइन्छ। यस अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय विमानस्थलका सम्बन्धमा भएका कागजात तथा विचारविमर्शहरूले यो कुराको पुष्टि गर्दछ। यसरी नै प्रचार गरिँदै…
